Great service! The football game was on multiple TVs so we could see clearly from our booth! The RJ's Original Sauce and Southern Sauce were phenomenal. I got a classic pulled pork sandwich! Photo doesn't do it justice!!
R.J.'s BBQ - My Go-To Spot in KC! R.J.'s BBQ is hands down my favorite BBQ spot in Kansas City. If you love bold flavors, the Habanero BBQ sauce is a must--nothing else even comes close! It's got just the right amount of heat and flavor to elevate any dish. The food overall is consistently good, whether you're grabbing a sandwich or going all in on ribs. What really makes R.J.'s special is the atmosphere. It's got that perfect hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop feel that makes you feel right at home the second you walk in. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing BBQ and a laid-back vibe!
One of our favorite local BBQ establishments. Great food, good service, and very reasonable pricing. It's very welcoming and friendly. There's always a game on and the lighting is just right. I highly recommend the southern BBQ or habanero BBQ sauce.
Excellent food, great service. The pork belly burnt ends are exceptional. The fries are really good too. The reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5? They close at 8:30. Why would you limit your availability when your food is so delicious?? If they were open till 10pm they would appeal to so many more customers. Some of us are night owls who love BBQ anyway, I love this restaurant and I support them 100%, I just hope they will amend their hours in the future.
The food is always great! The service is always friendly! And the vibe is calming with a dash of nostalgia with 60's 70's and 80's music playing in the background. Ambience is is filled with pictures on the walls from sports to old Cow Town poster's from the 70's and Ribbons displayed in the entrance let's you know that you made the right choice . The bar is a good spot for a quick bite and a pint of beer or a long evening of Royals or a Chief's game. They're big Kansas city sports fans. On Sunday's they have the best Country Breakfast!! Burnt end Hash, Shrimp and Grits, Biscuits and Gravy, Pancakes and so much more. Yes I eat there alot but can you blame me?
My husband and I returned to the Bob-Be-Que Shack for an anniversary dinner, and we had a great meal! Sherry was once again our waitress, and once again went over and above. When I asked about vinegar for my spinach greens, she went to the pantry and found some apple cider vinegar for me. How sweet! She guided us through the menu (we were there early in the evening, and lunch was being served, along with dinner options, until 5 pm) and came back to check on us frequently. She was friendly and welcoming and made sure we enjoyed our meals. The food was DELICIOUS! I had the pulled pork Po' Boy sandwich, perfectly put together with coleslaw on the hoagie bun, and a side order of spinach greens, equally tasty. My husband had the burnt ends lunch special, which was yummy; he only wished the portion of meat was a little larger. He'll know next time to order the dinner portion. R. J.'s is cozy and hospitable, and we had a lovely time. Thank you for making our anniversary special!
I really like their sides, moreso than the meat. I haven't tried enough of the meat yet. But I really like the onion rings and mac and cheese! Their southern bbq sauce is also really tasty with it, it is slightly sweet and has a good tangy flavor. The service is really nice, everyone was very helpful and friendly when I came to order to-go for the first time. They were patient while I looked at the menu and answered my questions. The wait was fine as well, they fried up the onion rings fresh. The restaurant is very small but has a good separation of space between the carryout area, the bar area, and the booths/tables dining area. I really like this place and enjoy coming here anytime! I'm glad we have it in the neighborhood!
Been here several times, & done carryout. Consistent every time. Huge fan of the bison empanadas, so unique. They are buttery and the dipping sauce has a lot of kick. I also adore the lamb ribs, I get these every time. Again, hard to find those at most BBQ joints. The jalapeño sausage is spicy & amazing. Always have to have a side of fried okra. Hubby loves the burnt ends and the gumbo. Honestly can't go wrong here. Gets crowded since it's not a huge place, so do a reservation or come early. Vibe here is great, super friendly & fun. Love this place.
The food was good and the price was fair. Sandwiches come à la cart. They have platters that come with sides. Servers are friendly and try and stay on top of things. The dinning is medium with booths and a sit down bar as well as a few tables.
